William “Cy” A. Anderson
William “Cy” A. Anderson, 89, formerly of 2 Greeves Street, passed away Tuesday (March 31, 2015) at the Rouse Estates in Youngsville.
Born October 13, 1925, in Kane, he was a son of the late Claude and Myrtle Hutchins Anderson. On January 14, 1949, he married Marjorie Jean Dooher who preceded him in death in 2001.
Cy served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a licensed commercial pilot and a charter member of the original Warren Aviation Club. In 1985, he retired from the National Forge Company where he held several management positions, including Process Engineer, Senior Product Engineer and Manager of Industrial Engineering. He was a past president of the New York Penn Chapter of the American Institute of Industrial Engineers.
Cy was a long-time member of the Kane Country Club and a life-time member of the B.P.O.E. Lodge #329 in Kane.
Surviving are four children, James (Donna) Anderson of Edinboro, Judith (Hugh) Mumford of Guys Mills, Richard (Bernadette) Anderson of Wyomissing and Jeanne (Gary) Pierotti of Kane; four grandchildren, Cammie (James) Sands, Rachael (Adam) Hoffman, Joshua (Tanya) Anderson and Samuel (Kristen) Anderson; three great grandchildren, Cy William Van Cise, Livia Scout Van Cise ,Ryan Alivia Hoffman; and a sister, Patricia Longo of Sun City Center, FL. He is also survived by a dear friend and traveling companion, Marilyn Rose with whom he spent ten happy years.
He was preceded in death, besides his wife and parents, by a sister, Francis Anderson and two brothers, Richard and John Anderson.
At Cy’s request, there will be no viewing or calling hours. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date to be announced with all welcome to attend.
Cy will be laid to rest next to his wife, Margie, in Lebanon Lutheran Cemetery in Kanesholm.
Memorial donations may be made to the Friends’ Memorial Public Library, 230 Chase St., Kane, PA 16735.
The Cummings Funeral Home, Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
