Michael F. Cahill Seeking 4th Term As McKean County Coroner
Michael F. Cahill
It is with great pleasure and respect that I announce my intention to seek re-election for a 4th, four year term as the McKean County Coroner in the May 12th, Primary Election representing the Republican Party.
Since being elected McKean County Coroner in 2004 and prior to that as a deputy coroner for 17 years, I have been privilege to be a part of the death investigation of hundreds of people in McKean County. This position has allowed me to use my education, training, and experience of over 35 years to provide the answers to the questions which law enforcement officials and the decedent’s survivors have regarding the circumstances surrounding a death. While these answers are not easily determined or accepted, I have always strived to perform these duties in a dignified and professional manner. I feel that my years of experience and training will allow me to serve the community as the best candidate for the Republican Party for the next four years.
Raised and educated in Bradford, I attended St. Bernard Elementary School, Bradford Central Christian High School, the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford, and finally the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science.
After graduating from college I returned to Bradford in 1984 and served my Internship under my father’s supervision at the Francis D. Cahill Funeral Home. From 1985 to 1993 I served as a Director at the Cahill Funeral Home and later the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc. I became a partner in the firm in 1993, and currently own and operate the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc.
From 1986 until 2003 I served as Deputy McKean County Coroner, and since 2004 I have served as the Coroner of McKean County. I was the first McKean County Coroner to complete The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Office of Attorney General Coroner’s Education Course and Examination given at the Pennsylvania State Police Academy in Hershey, in December of 2003. For the past 11 years I have attended and completed the Pennsylvania Coroners Education Course and most of those years at no expense to the County.
My professional memberships include the National Funeral Directors Association, the Pennsylvania Funeral Directors Association, the Western Pennsylvania Funeral Directors Association, the Pennsylvania State Coroners Association, the Pennsylvania Department of Health-Child Death Review Team, and the Seneca Law Enforcement Agency.
My civic involvement and memberships include; former member of the Board of Directors at Bradford Regional Medical Center, Board of Directors at the Office of Economic and Community Development, member of the Knights of Columbus Council #403, Kinzua Valley Trails Association, former member, East Bradford Businessmen’s Association, former committee member and past Treasurer of the Don Raabe Big 30 All Star Charities Classic and the Rotary Club of Bradford
I reside with my wife, Mimi (Zetts) Cahill on East Main Street, in Bradford.
