Christopher James McCormack, 40, of East End Avenue, Regent Square, Pittsburgh, and formerly of Mt. Jewett, passed away Thursday ( December 11, 2014) at the Allegheny General Hospital Transplant Unit in Pittsburgh.
Born April 29, 1974, in Kane, he was a son of Jim and Kittie Johnston McCormack. On July 27, 2002, in Key West, Florida, he married Miriam Kleman McCormack who survives.
Chris attended Mt. Jewett Elementary School and graduated from Kane Area High School with honors in 1992. He was a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University in 1996 and received his Master’s Degree in Education from Chatham College in 1998.
He began teaching at St. Edmunds Academy in Pittsburgh and ascended to Assistant Headmaster. He continued working in education and most recently served as a manager of the tech department at the Pine Richland School District.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of Pittsburgh and his parents of Mt. Jewett, are a brother, Jay McCormack and his wife Marcie Srun; and five nieces that he adored, Wren, Jayne, Sunny, Claire and Kacey all of Terra Haute, Indiana. He also is survived by his beloved dogs, Morgan, Amber and Bonnie.
Friends may attend a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the Mt. Jewett United Methodist Church with the Rev. W. Craig Smith, pastor, officiating. Private interment will be held at Bridgeview Cemetery prior to the memorial service.
