Caroline “Keck” M. Swedenhjelm, 84, formerly of West Wind Road, passed away Saturday (December 6, 2014) at the Lutheran Home at Kane.
Born March 13, 1930, in Wilcox, she was a daughter of the late John and Anna Bedner Parana. On October 29, 1949, in Rasselas, she married Paul “Skip” Swedenhjelm who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Swedenhjelm, a graduate of Wilcox High School, was a homemaker for the majority of her life. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed playing cards and polka dancing. She was a member of St. Callistus Catholic Church and had served as a Brownie Scout assistant leader.
Surviving are a daughter, Christine “Tina” Lachowski of Erie; a granddaughter, Amanda (Jake) Pitzer of Rowlesburg, WV; a sister, Elizabeth “Betty” Agens of Kane; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death, in addition to her husband and Parents, by five brothers, John, Andrew, William, Charles and Edward Parana; two sisters, Irene Peterson and Margaret Constable; and a son-in-law, Bernard Lachowski.
Friends will be received in the gathering space at St. Callistus Church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at which time a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with the Rev. Philip Pinczewski, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Tabor Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Lutheran Home at Kane, 100 High Point Dr., Kane, PA 16735 or a charity of the donor’s choice.
The Cummings Funeral Home, Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
