Wayne D. Rapp
Wayne D. Rapp, 78, of 269 Highland Road, Kane, died Wednesday morning, December 3, 2014 following an extended illness.
Born May 26, 1936 in Sackett, he was the son of Lawrence W. and Lillian F. Whipple Rapp. On November 10, 1956 in Kane, he married Patricia J. Neely, who died in 1993.
Wayne worked for National Fuel Gas in various positions, retiring as an electrician in 1996 after thirty-three years of service. During that time he also owned and operated Wayne’s Sales & Service, performing small engine repair from his home.
He was a member of the First Church of God in Kane, the BPO Elks in Ridgway and the Loyal Order of Moose in Bradenton, Fla., where he wintered. He was an avid motorcycle rider and enjoyed playing pool and polka dancing, having belonged to the Polka Boosters.
Surviving are a son, Michael D. Rapp of Ridgway; two daughters, Michele McKey of Manheim and Julie Anderson of Kane; his fiancé, Shirley Dodge of Kane; a brother, Glen Rapp and a sister, Marsha Strohmeyer, both of Waterford; seven grandchildren, two great grandsons and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 5:00 until 8:00 on Sunday at the Ronald McDonald II Funeral Home, Inc., where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 on Monday with the rev. Chad Troup, pastor of the First Church of God, officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Cemetery.
