Sally Jo Cleer, 78, of 171 Longview Drive, died Tuesday (November 25, 2014) at UPMC Shadyside in Pittsburgh.
Born February 7, 1936, in Sigel, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Sybil Wise Cook. In the spring of 1955, she married Clarence “Clem” Cleer in Kane.
Together, Sally and Clem owned and operated the Longview Inn in Kane for several years. Over the years, Sally also worked for Dr. Bentz, the Kane Community Hospital, Stackpole and Highlander Energy.
Sally loved animals and spent several happy years at her farm caring for them. She also loved her family and especially enjoyed holiday get-togethers. She never missed a high school reunion and was a proud member of “The Huggers” which was a group of close friends from Kane High School.
Surviving are four children,Deb (Joe) Fairo, Bert (Mary Gausman) Cleer, Dan (Missy) Cleer and Tim (Barb) Cleer, all of Kane; six grandchildren, Marisa Cleer, Kevin Cleer, Brandon Cleer, Adam Cleer, Del Cleer and Wes Cleer; a daughter-in-law, Jill Cleer; and three siblings, Nancy (George) Cunningham of Kane, Walter “Capp” (Annie) Cook of Sheffield and Susie Lewis of York; and her former husband, Clem (Deb) Cleer.
She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by her son, Mark Cleer and her grandson, Mark “Junior” Cleer.
A memorial service will be held at a later date to be announced.
Memorial donations in memory of Sally may be made to the Humane Society or McKean County SPCA, Box 113, Bradford, PA 16701.
