Gerhart, Robert L.

Robert L. Gerhart, 84, formerly of 525 Greeves Street, Kane, died early Sunday morning, November 9, 2014 at The Lutheran Home at Kane, where he resided.
Born March 24, 1930 in Kane, he was the son of Louis and Sara Heasley Gerhart. On June 8, 1957 in Kane, he married Edythe Swedenjelm, who survives.
Mr. Gerhart worked in the paint line at Stackpole Corp. in Kane for many years. He was a C.B. Radio enthusiast, going by the handle “Ringo”; enjoyed drawing and woodworking, and was a music aficionado, with the Beatles being his favorite.
Surviving, in addition to his wife “Edie”, are a daughter, Nancy Blankenship of Kane; two sisters, Pearl “Sissy” Benson and Janie Read, both of Kane; two brothers, John Gerhart in California and Francis “Manny” Gerhart of Kane; and grandchildren Jennifer Blankenship, Stephanie Wormsley, Amanda Blankenship and Chelle Blankenship. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death, besides his parents, by four brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call from 6:00 until 8:00 on Tuesday at the Ronald McDonald II Funeral Home, Inc. in Kane, and may attend a service there at 11:00 on Wednesday with the rev. William LaVelle, pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Kane, and the rev. W. Craig Smith, pastor of the Mt. Jewett – Hazel Hurst Methodist Churches, co-officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Tabor Cemetery following cremation.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Community Nurses Hospice, 757 Johnsonburg Rd, St. Marys, PA 15857, or to the First United Methodist Church, 112 Greeves St., Kane, PA 16735.
