BRADFORD, Pa. – The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford’s Spectrum series will host visiting chamber music ensemble Gibbs & Main next week as part of its Noon Tunes series.

The performance will begin at noon on Nov. 13 in the KOA Speer Electronics Lobby in Blaisdell Hall and is free and open to the public.

Founded in 2002, Gibbs & Main, formerly known as Quartsemble, is based in Rochester N.Y., and comprised of five musicians who perform classical pieces meshed with Latin, pop and contemporary styles.

John Liberatore, visiting assistant professor of music, said, Gibbs & Main, among other things, interact with the audience by building programs that draw the audience together to engage in music they might not otherwise.

“They (Gibbs & Main) are redefining what a classical ensemble is through eclectic programming,” Liberatore said.

Gibbs & Main is commonly known for its educational concerts for children and adults and often perform in schools, libraries, art galleries and parks to reach a wide range of audiences.

The performance is the first in a series of three visiting artists for Noon Tunes. The next two visiting performers, Ade Adu and Strings and Hammers, will perform in February 2015.
