Route 6 Improvement Work Continuing in Kane

Kane – Roadway improvements on Route 6 in Kane are continuing, with paving currently taking place. The paving activity could impact available parking in and around the borough. Repairs will improve the ride quality of the roadway surface and extend the useful life of the pavement. The work was made possible by Act 89, the state’s new transportation plan.

Drivers could encounter paving crews along Route 6 in Wetmore Township and in Kane Borough. Paving will take place during daylight hours and drivers will encounter alternating traffic patterns and flaggers in the roadway. Travel delays should be expected.

Other roadway improvements under this contract include 8.5 miles of Route 44 in Potter County between Coudersport and Coneville and 4.3 miles on Route 59 in McKean County west toward Marshburg. Route 6 paving in Kane is expected to finish this year with the other roadway work slated for 2015. Glenn O. Hawbaker, Inc. of State College is the contractor on this $4.4 million project. All work is weather and schedule dependent.

Motorists can check conditions on major roadways by visiting 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 700 traffic cameras. 511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices, by calling 5-1-1, or by following regional Twitter alerts accessible on the 511PA website.
