Pitt-Bradford to host Law Enforcement Awareness and Familiarization Day

BRADFORD, Pa. – The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford will host the 32nd annual Law Enforcement Awareness and Familiarization (LEAF) Day on Wednesday, Sept. 17, giving people an opportunity to talk with law enforcement officers and learn more about what they do.

The program will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Frame-Westerberg Commons and is free and open to the public.

Attendees will be Bradford Township police, Federal Correctional Institution – McKean, Federal Bureau of Investigation, New York State Police, McKean County District Attorney’s Office, Pennsylvania State Police, Pennsylvania Board of Probation and Parole, U.S. Border Patrol, McKean County Adult Probation, McKean County 911 Center, Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board Alcohol Education, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Services, Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission, YWCA Victims Resource, Pennsylvania Office of Inspector General, City of Bradford police, Children’s Advocacy Center of McKean County, U.S. Army, McKean County Drug Task Force K-9 Unit handler Bob Rinfrette.

Alumnus Kevin O’Brien ’06 will represent Loudoun Sheriff’s Office from Leesburg, Va.
LEAF Day was originally enacted by former Chief of Police George Barron in 1981 to promote various law enforcement agencies and educate students on possible carries in diverse branches of law enforcement. Chief Dan Songer has since continued the tradition, calling LEAF Day an opportunity to make the community aware of “what we are and what we do.”
