Hedlund, Freda

Freda Hedlund, 94, of 234 Old Smethport Road, Kane, died Tuesday morning, January 7, 2014 at the Kane Community Hospital.
Born December 20, 1919 in Sheffield, she was the daughter of John and Marie Moore Roth. On May 8, 1941 in Olean, N.Y., she married Lawrence L. Hedlund, who died January 21, 2005.
A homemaker, Mrs. Hedlund was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Kane, where she belonged to the United Methodist Women and the Mary Circle. She also was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels.
Surviving are a daughter, Judith M. Haight of Ludlow; two sons, Ronald R. (Joan) Hedlund of Erie and Jack L. (Linda) Hedlund of Kane; a sister, Kathryn Roth of Ashville, N.Y.; twelve grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren and ten great great grandchildren, plus several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death, besides her husband and parents, are a son, Roger Hedlund, a grandson, Daniel Hedlund, a great grandson, Bryan Hannon, and a son-in-law, Ronald Haight, plus four brothers and three sisters.
Friends may call from 4:00 until 6:00 on Thursday at the Ronald McDonald II Funeral Home, Inc. in Kane, and may attend a service at the funeral home at noon on Friday with the rev. William LaVelle, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, and the rev. W. Craig Smith, pastor of the Mt. Jewett – Hazel Hurst United Methodist Churches, officiating. Interment will follow in Nebo Cemetery, Mt. Jewett.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 112 Greeves St., Kane, PA 16735.
