Prudence Seyler

Port Allegany – Prudence Maud Seyler, 78, of, Port Allegany, died Thursday (December 12, 2013) in the Lakeview Senior Care & Living Center, Smethport. She was born May 31, 1935 in Olean, a daughter of Joseph Reynolds and Maud Mildred Cook Seyler. Miss Seyler graduated at age16 as valedictorian of the commercial business course at Port Allegany High School Class of 1952 Miss Seyler worked on the family farm. She was employed from 1965-1974 as a bookkeeper for Pfeil’s Pharmacy and for DeMott’s Pharmacy for 16 years until 1990. She also worked for Port Allegany Elementary School as a teacher aide. She received her Master Gardener Certificate in 1995 from Penn State Extension. Miss Seyler spent many hours volunteering in many capacities for the Port Allegany Senior Center, RSVP and was treasurer for Meals on Wheels. She is survived by 2 Cousins: Sylvia (Mahlon) Davenport and Martha Knight both of Port Allegany, PA. 7 nieces and nephews and several other cousins She was preceded by her parents and a sister Lenore Lindberg Visitation will be held on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013 from 6-8PM at Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes, Inc, 105 N Main St, Port Allegany, PA. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in the Portage Valley Cemetery, Wrights. Memorials may be made to McKean County SPCA, 80 Glenwood Ave, Bradford, PA 16701 or S.W. Smith Library, 201 E Maple St., Port Allegany, PA 16743 Online condolence may be made at Arrangements are under the direction of the Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes, Port Allegany.
