Swanson, Jean F.

Jean Foote Swanson, 98, formerly of 232 Dawson Street, passed away Friday, November 8, 2013 at The Lutheran Home at Kane.
Born January 20, 1915 in Syracuse, NY she was a daughter of Julius and Mabelle Foote Eller. On May 27, 1940 in Syracuse, NY, she married Wallace Eugene (Gene) Swanson, who died December 9, 2008.
Mrs. Swanson graduated from High School in Syracuse and Syracuse University. She was a dietitian for the Kane Community Hospital for 37 years and had been a consultant for the former Ridgway Hospital, retiring in 1976.
She was a member of the American Dietetic Association of Pennsylvania, the Northwest Pennsylvania Dietetic Association and Phi Mu College Sorority.
Surviving are a daughter; Janet Chrisman, St Petersburg, FL, a son; Paul (Becky) Swanson, Jamestown, NY, 4 grandchildren; Kevin (Jennice) Chrisman, Levittown, PA, Jeffrey (Nicole) Swanson, Syracuse, NY, Michael (Sandy) Swanson, Rochester, NY and Sarah (Matt) Jones, Syracuse, NY, 3 great grandchildren; Brianna & Tyler Swanson and Jack Henry Jones.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Swanson was preceded in death by 3 brothers and a sister-in-law, Bernice Swanson.
Friends may call on Thursday from 10:00 to 11:00 at Tabor Ev. Lutheran Church, 200 Dawson Street in Kane, where funeral and committal services will be held at 11:00 with the Rev. David Pflieger, Chaplin of The Lutheran Home at Kane officiating. Burial will be in Mt Tabor Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Tabor Lutheran Church, 200 Dawson St., Kane, PA 16735, or the American Cancer Society, 95 Main St., Bradford, PA 16701.
