| Those in wheelchairs were not allowed to go!!
Once again, I am looking for a place to vent.
As I am living in NC, there really is not much I can do at this point. I went
home to visit my family and mother in Bradford Pavillion. She had broken a hip and
is non weight-bearing for a few months, so this has become her "new home" for
awhile. While visiting over Thanksgiving, she told me how excited she was to get out
with the "seniors" and see the Christmas lights before Christmas. I'm sure
anyone who has been in a home really looks forward to something like this.....ESPECIALLY
given the Christmas season has rushed upon us! Since the folks in these homes really
can't contribute much due to rehab, illness, etc, this is just one small event that they
really look forward to.
Well, to my dismay, I learned that, although they had numerous buses AND the ATA buses,
those in wheelchairs were not allowed to go!! What kind of bull is this?
I have to learn two days later that Mom could not go....she so looked forward to
Sunday night, only to have it taken away from her? Do you know how hard it is to
hear this disappointment in her voice, so very far away? How could anyone make such
an insensitive decision regarding these special people, young and old....at
Christmas? I do understand the work involved.....but to let some take part in the
event, and not others?
Again, I can't even begin to tell you how hurt "I" feel.....let alone those that
were singled out and left behind. Thanks for letting me vent. I just find this
very unfair.
