Kane - William “Muff” Nicolazzo, 69, of 6002 Rt. 66, passed away peacefully Thursday (December 29, 2011) at Kane Community Hospital.

Born September 1, 1942, in Kane, he was a son of Carl and Rose Bifano Nicolazzo. On September 21, 1984, in Kane, he married Linda Alcorn, who was his wife for 27 years and his sweetheart for 40 years.

A long-time Kane businessman, Mr. Nicolazzo was the proud owner of Papa Nick’s Family Restaurant from 1975 to 2005, where he could be found working daily.

He attended Lincoln Welding School and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers Union. He also belonged to St. Callistus Catholic Church and was a member of the Moose Lodge #130 in Kane. Additionally, he was a member of the National Guard, Kane unit.

“Muff” was full of love and dedicated his life to giving of himself; his generosity more than exceeded his wealth. For many years, he was a most generous donor to the Kane Food Pantry, and more than willingly fed anyone who came into his restaurant hungry that couldn’t afford a meal.

Surviving, in addition to his wife Linda Nicolazzo, are his beloved children; a daughter, Anjanette Nicolazzo of Ellicottville, NY; a son, Frank Nicolazzo of Kane; two sisters, Anna Jerman of Sarasota, FL and Josy Brothers of Kane and Sarasota, FL; and ten nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by two brothers, Frank “Sonny” Nicolazzo and Robert “Tuna” Nicolazzo; and two sisters, Catherine “Kate” Chiono and Julia “Ju” Bridges.

Friends will be received in the gathering space at St. Callistus from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. this Saturday, where a rosary will be recited at 9:00 a.m. prior to the viewing. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m., with the Rev. Philip Pinczewski, pastor, as celebrant. Burial will be at St. Callistus Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to McKean Co. SPCA or the St. Callistus Memorial Fund.

The Cummings Funeral Home, Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
