Smethport - Ted J. Hyde, 65, of Smethport, died Wednesday (December 26, 2012).

He was born April 6, 1947 in Kane, a son of Teddy James and Lena Pais Hyde-Petruzzi.

Mr. Hyde was a 1965 graduate of Smethport Area High School and was a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps, serving during Vietnam from 1966 to 1968.

Mr. Hyde worked on the Alaskan Pipeline when it was being installed during the 1970's, and ultimately was employed as a Postal Clerk at the Smethport Post Office.

He was a member of VFW; Smethport Post #2497, the American Legion; John Berg Post #976 of Crosby, and the Smethport Country Club. He was an avid outdoorsman.

He is survived by one sister: Tina Petruzzi of Smethport, and several cousins

He was preceded in death by his biological father, Teddy J. Hyde, Sr. on July 23, 1947, a brother, Thomas Petruzzi on February 3, 1966, his father who raised him, Raymond F. Petruzzi, on September 3, 2008, and his mother, Lena D. Petruzzi on September 2, 2010.

There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, Dec. 30th, at 1 P.M., at the VFW; Smethport Post #2497. Military Honors will be accorded by members of the American Legion; Bucktail Post #138 of Smethport and John Berg Post #976 of Crosby.

Memorials, if desired, may be made to the VFW; Smethport Post #2497, or the Hamlin Memorial Library, Smethport. Online condolences may be made at www.hartle-tarboxfuneralhomes.com.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes, Inc., Smethport.
