Robert W. Michaels, 84, formerly of 53 Constitution Ave., passed away, Tuesday, January
3rd, 2012 at Lakeview Senior Care & Living Center in Smethport.
Born October 8, 1927, in Bradford, he was a son of the late Walter and Lois (Clarke)
Michaels. He was a member of the Bradford High School Class of 1944.
On September 18, 1945 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, served during WW II, and honorably
discharged July 31, 1946. He was recalled to duty, served during the Korean War and was
honorably discharged August 23, 1953.
On September 17, 1949 in Bradford he married Sara J. (Northrop) Michaels who died on
August 24, 1998.
He had been employed as a machine operator at Graham Container now Graham Packaging for
several years. He had attended the First United Methodist Church was a former member of
the Eagles Club.
Surviving is a son, Robert M. (Sharon) Michaels of Fayetteville, AR, two grandchildren;
Christopher (Kristin) Michaels and Jennifer (Jason) Campbell, three great grandchildren,
Hannah Grace Campbell, Hayden Paul Campbell, and Sara Katherine Michaels, two sisters,
Marion Frontino and Dorothy Carlson, one brother, Walter Michaels and several nieces and
nephews.
Family will be receiving friends on Friday, January 6th, 2012, from 7:00 to 9:00pm in
the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc. East Main St., where funeral and committal
services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, January 7th, with Rev. Tom Verner pastor of
the First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Willow Dale Cemetery.
