Port Allegany - Philip G. McKervey, 84, of Port Allegany, died Thursday (February 7, 2013) in the Sweden Valley Manor, Coudersport.

He was born July 10, 1928 in Port Allegany, a son of John K. and Ruby Lovell McKervey. On November 21, 1952, in Port Allegany, he married Patricia Anne Bly, who died July 3, 2005.

Mr. McKervey was a graduate of Port Allegany High School class of 1946. He was employed at Pierce Glass, then Ball Incon, now Verallia, for 37 years, retiring in 1991.

He was a veteran of the US Army, serving during Korea from 1950 to 1956.

He was a member of the American Legion Frank Burt Post #258, Port Allegany, Life Member of the VFW Post #6391, Port Allegany, where he was a Past Commander. He was also on the Board of Directors for the Port Allegany Veterans Memorial Home. He was a member of the Port Allegany Moose Lodge #460 and the First Baptist Church of Port Allegany. He belonged to the Port Allegany Pool League and was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He is survived by: One daughter: Linda (Gary) Foster of Port Allegany Two sons: Keith C. (Donna) McKervey of Mansfield, MA and Brett (LuAnn Babcock) McKervey of Port Allegany Six grandchildren: Cassandra (Nate) Howard, Lindsay Foster, Kate Marie Boardman, Megahn (Nick) Nolan, Kara and Kellie McKervey Three great grandchildren: Danielle, Samantha, and Riley.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and one brother.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013 from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. in the Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes, Inc, Port Allegany, where funeral and committal services will be held on Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, at 11:00 A.M., with the Rev. Michael Culver, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Port Allegany, officiating. Burial will be in Card Creek Cemetery, Roulette. Military Honors will be accorded by the Port Allegany Honor Guard at the funeral home.

Memorials, if desired, may be made to the S.W. Smith Library, Port Allegany, or the Port Allegany Veterans Memorial Home, Port Allegany.
