Joseph Kasaback KANE Joseph "Cook" Kasaback, 83, of 4 North Hillside Ave., Ludlow, passed away Wednesday (January 9, 2013) at the Lutheran Home at Kane. Born July, 1929, in Warren, he was a son of the late Anthony and Helen Antal Kasaback. On March 14, 1952, in Clarendon, he married Joyce Nystrom who survives. Mr. Kasaback was employed for forty years by Penelec as a chief hot stick lineman and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the Jamestown SeeBees. He also played for Navy in the Army-Navy Orange Bowl Game. For over thirty years, he served as a Hamilton Township supervisor and president of the Ludlow Water Association. He belonged to the Ludlow American Legion and was a member of the Cemetery Association. Joe was instrumental in getting the Sheffield Medical Center started and also arranged for the purchase of the property and building for Hamilton Township and the Hamilton Township V.F.D. He was an avid hunter. Surviving, in addition to his wife, Joyce, are three sons, Jeffrey Kasaback of Kane, Greg (Linda) Kasaback and Todd Kasaback, both of Ludlow; a daughter, Sherry (Karl) Keierleber of Mesa, Arizona; nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and a brother, Ronald Kasaback of Ridgway. Friends will be received from 2:00 to 4: 00 P.M. and 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. Sunday at the Cummings Funeral Home, Inc. where a funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M. Monday with the Rev. David Pflieger, chaplain at the Lutheran Home, officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the McKean County SPCA, 80 Glenwood Ave., Bradford, PA 16701.
