Evelyn L. Strawcutter, 96, formerly of 109 Clay Street in Kane, died
Thursday afternoon, January 5, 2012 at The Lutheran Home at Kane.
Born May 16, 1915 in Brookville, she was the daughter of Harvey H. and Florence V.
Farrell McManigle. On February 5, 1933, she married Ray E. Strawcutter, who died in 1954.
Mrs. Strawcutter was a dietary manager at the Kane Community Hospital for over thirty
years. She was a member of Tabor Ev. Lutheran Church in Kane, the Order of the Eastern
Star, and belonged to the Mountain Grange #1307 in Kane for over fifty years. She enjoyed
playing cards with her friends.
Surviving are four daughters, Shirle Deitz and Jacki Hinkle of Kane, Sandy Oliver of
Coconut Creek, Fla. and Dona Johnson of Kane; plus fourteen grandchildren and several
great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death, besides her husband and parents, by her son, Dick
Strawcutter and a daughter in infancy, plus two brothers and three sisters.
Friends may attend a memorial service at 2:00 on Sunday at Tabor Lutheran Church in
Kane with the rev. Bill Waterman, pastor, and the rev. David Pflieger, chaplain of The
Lutheran Home at Kane, co-officiating. Interment of her cremated remains will be in Forest
Lawn Cemetery.
