March 10 Panel At SBU To Discuss The Role Of Prayer & Meditation In One’s Spiritual Development PDF Print E-mail
Posted by Bradford Today

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. — The public is invited to attend a March 10 panel discussion at St. Bonaventure University that will focus on the individual’s spiritual journey and how it develops/unfolds within a life “under vows” in a religious community.

“Life under Vows: The Spiritual Journeys of Nuns, Monks, and Friars” will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the amphitheater of the William F. Walsh Science Center. The new science center is located on the west side of campus near the John J. Murphy Professional Building.

The panel will feature:

  • Br. John Crocker, a Trappist Monk for more than 25 years;

  • Dr. Elise DeVido, assistant professor of history at St. Bonaventure and author of a forthcoming book on Zen Buddhist nuns;

  • Sojun Godfrey, who lived for eight years in Zen monasteries in Japan; and

  • Br. Bob Struzynski, O.F.M., a member of Holy Peace Friary at Mt. Irenaeus.

During the discussion, particular attention will be given to the role of prayer and meditation in one’s spiritual development.
