Bradford - PennDOT has placed lane restrictions on a bridge on Route 646 in Foster Township in order to make repairs. The bridge spans Pennbrook Run about a mile north of the village of Gilmore in McKean County.
Making repairs to the bridge will extend its useful life for years to come and provide a smoother, safer ride for area drivers. The bridge was built in 1930. It is 32 feet long and carries an average of almost 1,500 vehicles per day.
In order for PennDOT McKean County Maintenance to make the beam repairs, the bridge was restricted to one lane today. Self-regulating stop signs are enforcing an alternating traffic pattern.
Work is expected to last through September, depending on weather. Drivers are reminded to proceed through work zones with caution, obey posted speed limits and always buckle up.
