Bradford – For the second time this month, PennDOT’s bridge, closure on Sullivan Road near Bradford has been extended. PennDOT now expects the bridge to be closed through July 25. PennDOT closed the bridge in mid-June to make beam repairs and expected to re-open it in early July. The bridge spans Bennett Brook just northwest of Bradford on Route 4011 (Sullivan Road).
A detour using Route 4009 (Interstate Parkway) remains in place. The detour is less than a mile long.
PennDOT McKean County Maintenance is working to repair the steel beams of the bridge.
The decision to close the bridge was the result of a recent inspection. The Bennett Brook Bridge was built in 1940, is 31 feet long and carries an average of 420 vehicles per day.
PennDOT reminds motorists to follow detour signs, obey speed limits and always buckle up.
