Earth Day Clean-Up- Rim Rock hike and picnic!

Sunday April 27th-

This Sunday will be our clean-up picnic "part two"! So there is a
chance for some of you who missed the first one to come out for the
second!

Last week we raked and swept the walkways and stairs, this
week we will mostly just pick up litter as we work our way through
the area while "playing" and exploring.

Since we will be there most of the day, the "church people" can come
out when they can make it. We will start at 11AM, but that time is
very flexible.


Our plans for this Sunday is for a hike, some Geocaching, climbing on
the rocks, maybe a poke into a cave or two, and we will hold our
second spring picnic for the year!

We can do a "loop" hike through the area and we can hit all the "main
attractions". The Indian Stairs, the "Flying Saucer Cave",
Cornplanters Cave, the "secret spring", the "Cornplanters Cave
Geocache", Billy Boy tunnel, and some other prominent rocks and
attractions.

Those interested can go to the next (near-by) ridge and do the
geocache there.

There is a wall there for climbing and rappelling! So bring your
ropes and harnesses if you like to rappel!

The gals from the ADP will be rappelling some of the day, and anybody
who can do it, is welcome to join us for that. If you have your own
climbing harness bring it! (Susie, you will like this trip!)

Our "tour" will see all there is to see at Rim Rock! We need to
witness the beauty of this area before it's all gone! This area is about to be drilled for oil and gas wells. The pink ribbons indicating well sites are all over! It's only a matter of time before the trucks start rolling.

Those who may want to attend this trip who may be unable to climb the
stairs and rocks, can wait in the picnic area and perhaps keep a
campfire going! There may be a steady presence at our picnic table(s)

We will meet at Rim Rock at 11:00AM ... Not so sharp this time! Look
for us in the second parking lot when you pull into the loop.

AND as an "added bonus", I may bring and demonstrate my "Hydrogen
Booster" that turns common water into Hydrogen and Oxygen gas to be
burned in a car motor! Many people were quite amazed at my
demonstration last Sunday. Nearly everybody went away from the
demonstration wanting to build or buy their own "Smack Booster".
Some of you might want to come out just for this demonstration!

What you will need: Grubby clothes if you will be climbing around the
rocks or want to go into the caves, good boots, a flash light, your
own food, beverages and snacks for the day, and a CAMERA is a must at
Rim Rock! OH! And a GPS if you want to find the geocache there!

And it is not mandatory, but those who want can prepare a "dish to
pass".

Just meet us in the second parking lot at the end of the Rim Rock
road off rt 59 at 11AM or later!

So far the Allegheny Outdoor Adventure Group, the Allegheny
Defense Project and the Olean Hiking Group will be represented,
