It looks like she's wearing an apron; all she needs are a feather duster, support hose and comfortable shoes and the ensemble would be complete. I don't know why she's considered a fashion icon; she doesn't walk -- she lumbers, she's not very attractive -- in face or shape, and she has horrible taste in clothes. She's a brilliant woman, a decent person, and a great mother, but fashion is NOT her forte. We need to give her credit where it is due, but you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.

Awful, The media needs to stop the comparison to Jackie Kennedy. She is not a style icon.

would normally not care what Michelle wears when she's at home in the private quarters of the WH but when she's overseas, whether on vacation or on official business, it does matter. She's not a private citizen site seeing, she's still the first lady and as such is representing our country. All she has to do is dress tastefully but can be casual as the situation calls for. What she's wearing looks like a first year Home Ec project. It's hideous and looks ridiculous. She's trying to be such a cutting edge fashionista but has failed on more than one occasion. What she wore to lunch with Nancy Reagan was insulting and cheap and ill fitting for meeting with a former first lady. K.I.S.S.

Folks, she's not some tourist on vacation. She's supposed to be the first lady of the United States of America, and instead she looks like a tacky line backer. Someone get her out of Old Navy and into a designer not located in da 'hood. She is too big in the hips for horizontal dayglo stripes (so is everyone else). If she wants to dress like she's going to the beach in Coney Island, then she needs to do it when no one is looking-not when she is traveling for our country. Get a grip-she is US-and she is a fashion disaster. The only thing missing is a price tag hanging off her beach hat. You're right about this much, Jackie Kennedy she ain't!

I don't care what nobody says...but this chick is tacky. I look and dress better than this on any given day! Somebody needs to help her get her fashion thing together. It's ok to wear Gap, J. Crew and other store brand off-the-rack clothing because if you accessorize correctly, you could look like you are wearing expensive designer clothing. She's just gawky, unstylish and tacky...I'm sorry, but that's my opinion and NO I'm not hating.

She looks like an Easter Egg

I've noticed over the years that if anyone in politics or royalty is even mediocre in looks, they are touted as beautiful. Kind of like doctors also. Someone recently asked me if this one particular doctor in town was really good looking, and my reply was "you don't have to be good looking to be a good looking doctor." Same with First Ladies.

Maybe I should wear them as a bikini top!
