I think that was trailguy Nan. To answer your question, both hospitals are under the same ownership, and seem to be willing to compromise care to protect their bottom line. On the other hand, everyone that i know who works there (at least at Bradford, not sure about Olean) are very professional, compassionate and caring. Kind of a catch 22. I think all the lifeflights out are to cash in on insurance.

Transport to other hospitals is a result of specialization and generally means better outcomes for patients. Not every hospital, even large ones, can offer the very best care for every condition. So small hospitals stablilize the patient and then transport him to a hospital where the best specialists are.

Would you really choose staying in Bradford to have your doctor, who does maybe a dozen heart bypasses a year, work on you? Or would you choose to have a doctor who does more than that in a week work on you? I'll choose the experience over being close to home.

BTW, not an insurance scam. Believe me, the insurance companies wouldn't pay for this if the results didn't justify it.

EXCACTLY! BRMC has that going for them.

As for moving to Bradford....I would in a minute if about 3,000 ne'er-do-wells moved away first!

Wow, over 1600 views on this thread, must be a lot of people interested in moving to Bradford! Almost makes for an interesting social experiment. It sounds like Nan has heard enough and wants us to stop...

OK Shadow, in that case, this thread should keep Nan busy for a while. viewtopic.php?f=8&t=632&hilit=youmightbeabradfordscummer

We didn't even mention that McKean County has the highest percentage of reported child abuse in the state of Pa and Bradford has the highest in all of McKean County! So we are number one in reported cases of abusing kids! AND we have the highest teen pregnancy rates in the state!

Some of those buggy pushing wellies are young teen moms! New to their teen years and new to plopping out babies!

But we are among the top ten "ultimate fishing destinations"!

And you can walk across our "bridge to nowhere".

At least our "powers that be" got their priorities right!

Nan, if you decide to move to Bradford, move into one of the neighboring townships, the property taxes are much lower than the citys. Our city government just voted to approve more housing that doesn't have to pay their fair share in taxes. Most residents in the city have to pay 100% of their assessed value. This new housing development that is coming to Bradford only has to pay a fraction of their assessed value. Nan did you know that Main Street in Bradford has been called a war zone in the past?

Other than all that, I don't know where else I'd rather live!
