Here is a great idea from Pittsburgh concerning negligent landlords .... what I call slumlords!

Pittsburgh council passes landlord shaming bill

The Associated Press PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh City Council has passed a bill to shame problem landlords by putting signs in front of the 10 worst-maintained properties in the city - though the only councilman opposing the measure predicts it will backfire.Councilman Ricky Burgess, who represents a predominantly black district, says neighbors of targeted buildings will be harmed because the signs will send the message, "Don't come here. Don't invest here."The bill, passed by a veto-proof 7-1 majority, empowers city building inspectors to identify the worst properties based on housing court convictions and citations. Those properties would then get a sign listing the owner's name, address and phone so neighbors could complain directly to the landlords. An amendment calls for the sign to be posted in front of the landlord's home, instead, if they live in the city.

Does our mayor and city council have what it takes to pass a similar ordinance in Bradford? Something I believe most of us agree would go a long way toward combating our increasing blight problem?

We have been doing our part here on BT for sure! We have been fighting the battle for years on here .... it's about time the city took a substantial step toward helping combat the blight in the city caused by slumlords that just don't care.

Even the Landlord association seems to be starting to "self police" from what I am told. It's about time the city did something ..... This above ordinance from Pittsburgh is a start ... a great start!

If they have the balls to pass this, or a similar ordinance, I'll personally go out and photograph them and make them internet stars!

Let's clean up this city!

We'd be hard pressed to narrow it down to ten. How about the worst 50?

Some of the slumlords have 40 plus properties or more. We may have to label the worst 100!

Did you notice this article showed up in the Era today?

Perhaps "the powers that be" may consider such a measure?

A website with photos may be another option!
