WESB said that a house at 48 Elm street was on fire last evening. Lets see, the one next to it at 52 or 54 Elm burned not too long ago, and was demolished. One directly behind it on Congress Place burned just after that. (it too is slated for demolition). One across the street from that one on Congress place burned,(gone) last winter was it? Im lovin seeing these eyesores gone. Pretty soon we will have enough room for 'Congress street Commons'. (actually, my guess is, it is slated for just up the street...)

Speaking of 'Commons' it just occurred to me, Are we taxpayers covering the cost of taking down the (tax providing) properties that lay in the way, if this Newbury Commons project is forced onto us? Could this be why other badly needed demos around town were back burnered last summer, even though the city floated a monster bond? Anyone heard the status of this housing project? last quote i heard was that it was not a done deal...

I just heard through the vine about an (alleged) arson attempt on a house on Elm street involving quantities of gasoline, and small children upstairs. Some kind of a revenge plot? Supposedly it was caught and extiguished just in time.

We stopped at the Unimart to pick up the gallon of milk we forgot while out grocery shopping, the latest fire according to the clerks at Unimart was that it was caused by a space heater.
