Wow! Lots of news in Bradford this week! And lots of new stuff here on BT.

Drugs from Trinidad, tax-free welfare housing, buffalo thug shooting, it's all tied together.

Fox was caught and many thanks to all the officers involved! Especially the Bradford police! One down, many more to go! How many of "these types" do you suppose we DO have in town? By "these types" I mean outsiders from cities like Buffalo and Pittsburgh who come here to live off our welfare system in slum lord housing, some of which may have something to do with narcotics distribution.

From todays Bradford Era (BUY IT! It's worth the read!):
As the judge was asking
Fox questions to determine
what amount to set for bail,
he asked if Fox was employed.
“No,” he replied.
“How do you survive?”
Luther asked.
“Women,” Fox said, laughing
a little.

Thank you Mr. Fox! You just confirmed what we here on BT have been saying for a very long time! We have talked here about "Buffalo drug dealers" coming into Bradford to live with gals on welfare in our subsidized housing, dealing drugs and living the thug lifestyle on the backs of all the working stiffs in town!

Luther then asked what, if
any, previous offenses Fox has
been charged with. He replied
that he had been charged with
burglary and assault in New
York, and drug and weapon
offenses in California. He said
he was on parole in the state
of New York at the time of
this incident. The judge then asked
arresting officer Bradford City
Assistant Police Chief Mike
Ward if any additional charges
might be coming. Ward said yes,
a charge of a felon possessing a
weapon will be added prior to
Fox’s preliminary hearing.
Fox laughed as if incredulous,
then said, “Can I get some of
these charges taken off?”

Good job to everybody in law enforcement! You guys are on the right track .... now go round them ALL up!

"Build it and they will come"! New "Bury the town in taxes" Commons. Since the rents will be high only DRUG DEALERS from the cities will be able to rent there!

WE the foolish citizens in Bradford who work hard ARE providing housing to drug dealers from outside the area!

The "deniers" in our city are dead wrong! "They" ARE here and taking advantage of the system and our tax payers.

How much do you think this little search for Mr. Fox cost the taxpayers, all things considered? When you add up all the costs of all the different agencies time and expenses? Fox claimed he lived at "9 Tibbetts Ave.". Wonder who was unfortunate enough to have rented to this crew? One can only guess.

And speaking of providing housing to drug dealers and the like ......

Bradford City Council responded to a complaint Tuesday from a local landlord. John Kohler was
upset because Housing Visions of Syracuse, N.Y., would not have to pay taxes. He also said the money the organization brings in will leave the area.
Mayor Tom Riel explained that it is a non-profit organization. Kohler said most non-profits are “basically a tax avoidance.”

Kohler said he has an apartment in the Dorn Mansion that he rents for $750 a month, everything included, that has been vacant for two months. “I can’t find
a tenant.” Dude! Welfare only pays up to a certain amount in rents. After that, you have to either rent to somebody with a good, stable, high paying job, who would just
buy their own house, or drug dealers from outside the area!

Also from the article that was pretty enlightening: Sara Andrews, said a 2001 study showed that 70 percent of rental property in Bradford was “considered to be substandard,” and feels if anything the quality has probably gotten worse since then. She added that more than 90 percent of the housing stock is
occupied, and said much of the remaining 10 percent probably shouldn’t be occupied.

Huh! Interesting! So in all that time, nobody figgered out that what Bradford needs most, before hiking paths, and before Chinese foot bridges, and more expensive housing for the elites among us, are programs to focus on rebuilding all the "substandard housing". Why did they not immediately start writing grants EXCLUSIVELY to help poor homeowners, and responsible landlords to improve their housing stock? Seriously, how many crappy rentals could you fix up with the nearly quarter million dollars we spend on an unneeded ornamental bridge crossing what looks like a sewer drainage ditch?

For just once it would be nice if the city of Bradford, would look at the problems in Bradford and deal with them head on, rather than try to deny the problems exist or make excuses as to why they can't be addressed. Just my humble opinion of course!

Congrats on getting ONE THUG in jail where he belongs .... now go round the rest of them up! A big thanks to EVERYBODY in the city who made this capture possible!

LOL@Flash!

It's not that easy Flash.

Do you think the "system" in Bradford that allows these drug dealers from Buffalo to shack up with local wellie gals is run only by "liberals"? Or the housing authority that allows the gals who allow convicted felons to live with them are all "liberals"? Or the CYS system in Bradford .... are they all liberals?

I seriously doubt it. I doubt you will find any of these dreaded liberals in the Mayors office, the city council, or behind desks in the city.

It's not a "liberal idea" that lets a situation like this exist ...... It's not that easy.

Nearly every known welfare recipient I've talked to in Bradford, were Republicans or Republican leaning, not liberals. Cheap shots and labels don't always work.

But if you want to insist that we shouldn't have a system SO WELCOMING to Buffalo drug dealers, moving to Bradford to live off the system, I will completely agree with you!

This was just posted to FB, by a friend that I consider to be a fairly intelligent, reasonable, "normal guy" who I believe does not read or post on BT.

A "regular guys" perspective of our town:

Is an episode of "The Walking Dead" filming in Bradford today? With the warm weather the zombies have come out in full force.

No, sir, this is the "new reality" in Bradford! Just make sure you limit your travels to daylight hours! And avoid the "dead zones" at all costs!

Funny you should mention this Stony, My brother in-law and his wife are back in town visiting from Hawaii after a long absence, while riding in his rental car (and with no prompting from me) i watched the look on his face (and his wifes) as he took it all in... finally he formed the words "Oh my God...who are these people? what happened to my Bradford?" I tried to explain it as best i could. Later we drove through several other localities including Mount Jewett, out of the blue he said "look at this nice little town, and no freaks on the streets" The funny thing is, i have been through this same scenario with numerous friends and relatives when touring around after a long absence, as im sure have many others. BTW, has anyone else seen the two 30something young men out touring the streets on their motorized chairs? They look very able-bodied to me. This is the epitome of milking the system. They looked like they were enjoying themselves, maybe they will form a 'welfare chair gang'. I will post pictures soon.

Great first post, Stony, but I believe Mr. Fox said "Wimins" Meaning "Women", when asked how he survives.
Since none of the Bradford "Mens" with jobs want to be with these wimins, I suppose these ample bodied government assisted gals are easy pickins for the Mr. Fox's of the world.
I suggest we erradicate the Mr. Fox's of Bradford by asking you mens to step up and be with our over abundant wimins!

I'll step up to the plate. I'm a Bradford “resident”. Just send all them wimins over to my apartment at the Holly Hotel, I'll take care of them all. I'll be the guy standing outside who's on the phone all day.
