According to those in the know, The city is willingly forsaking a large amount of tax revenue (conservatively about $400,000.00 annually) at a time we can ill afford it. If this is fast tracked through council, it will have a ripple effect starting with us already overburdened Bradford city taxpayers, and extending to those in the townships and even all remaining Mckean county residents. All of us will have to make up this shortfall in City, School and County taxes. Because this outfit bills themselves as non profit, they will have to accept section 8 tenants. Predictions are that initial rent will be somewhat high, but as pressure mounts to keep these monstrosities full, rent will drop. Pretty soon they most likely will become just another tenement. These row houses will sit right against the sidewalks, take up almost complete blocks, and be directly across the street from each other on multiple blocks. So many of the new tougher zoning laws were bent, and variances granted for this project, allegedly a member of the zoning hearing board resigned in disgust. Is it a done deal? According to Mr. Riel, No. My guess? its all over but the rubber stamp votes at the next council meeting. Lets watch and see who (if anyone) votes against it.

Here's the deal, I believe I can credit Patton with this.

They can call themselves a "non profit" to make things easy for themselves on the PR front, but they can still pay all their top executives really big, even obscene salaries! They can still make boat-loads of money ... but they just claim they are doing it as a "non-profit". But the operatives can still pay themselves tons of cash! Salaries are different from profits!

I believe what bothers most people in town is the fact that we are tearing down tax paying properties that are "locked in" to paying taxes until the end of time, and replacing them with tax exempt properties. As Citizen points out, THAT is a bum deal for all the rest of the taxpayers!

Hey, I'm not making a "profit" on my property, can I go before city council and get out of my taxes? Or how about all the other people in town on fixed incomes (like the elderly) who are not profiting on their property? People living hand to mouth, month to month? Can we forgive all their taxes?

Stoney, you are absolutely right! I will get with you and devise a plan to expose all the financial records of this outfit and put them under public scrutiny. I have discovered if you shine a light on them and they like darkness they will disappear.

Thanks, Patton, for posting the link to the developer's web site. That makes it clear that it's just another "Project", designed for people who are dependent on The System. The developer even provides services! As if we don't offer enough in this town; I swear that serving the underclass is already our biggest industry.

"Build it and they will come"!

Of course, the flip side of that is "tear it down and they will leave"!

Bradford needs LESS SUBSIDIZED HOUSING, not more!

Just open you paper and see who lives "in the projects"! "Fox and friends"! Do we really want to be subsidizing that?

We also need MORE PROPERTIES PAYING TAXES, not less!

A big thanks to Landlord and Patton for all they are doing! Great job guys!

What other rental facility in Bradford pays anywhere near that amount in Bradford?

How big is this facility going to be? I you had 25 units at $2000 ($1000) a month that would be $600,000 ($300,000) annual income. That would give you $200,000 ($100,000) for maintenance, utilities, and to service debt and whatever else. I could easily understand why it is a "non-profit" organization.

Guitar, what exactly is the point you are trying to make? can you explain? 50 units BTW... I am fairly certain of those numbers, but maybe Patton or someone who knows more can confirm?

Actually, a promient bussiness man in the community informed the crowd at the landlords meeting that the figures presented for the loss property taxes had been deflated by "officals" so the PILOT program Payment In Lieu Of Taxes would be less than the property taxes would generate.

I would like to thank everyone that attended the landlord's meeting. We discussed some very interesting topics. One in particular - the Business Privilage Tax that is taxed on GROSS INCOME. One interesting fact on this tax is that it is now illlegal. This tax was deemed illegal in 1988 by the Superior Court. All municipalities that enacted this tax before 1988 are grandfathered to enforce this tax.
I would like to thank Mr. Bill Hallock for helping me conduct this meeting. It's no secret that Mr. Hallock is an advocate for taxpayers' rights. Mr. Hallock also brought up some interesting points on the sewer consolidation. Bill attends every Foster Township monthly meeting with these same questions. Mr. Hallock wants the Tuna Valley, the place many of us call home, to be affordable for our families and businesses.

Now I know why I moved out of Bradford. What a bunch of bull .To the Landlord you’re not all that high and mighty that you want people to believe. You might have a small group who believe in you now. But they’ll see through you and what you really stand for.
The real issue is you don’t want the competition its might hurt your bank account
From what I read you only have few supporters. I can remember years ago .......

MOD EDIT: Section 4-A, Libel, Section 5. You can post stuff, but it must be true. I've also decided the 4-A discussion of family members was too far over the line.

What a life you live!!

To Patton you really should ................

MOD EDIT: Personal attack on a private citizen removed according to the TOS. Disclosure of personal information of another member/family member, Section 4.

viewtopic.php?f=11&t=64

For future reference, review sections 4-A, 5 and 9.
