Somebody help me out here, what reason possible can be given to not give out the suspects name or exact description, including the description of the car he was driving?
I may be able to answer my own question.
Perhaps the man was a boy (no pun intended)(nor, no racial insult intended!) and under the age of 18, thus no reporting of his name.
Or he could have been a drug informant. Shooting in self defense perhaps?
Or a very young drug informant who was very poorly trained in the use of a firearm! LOL!
Still, the paper quotes McKean County District Attorney Ray Learn as saying: "Authorities are not yet releasing the identity of the Buffalo man due to the ongoing search for him".
So somehow the public knowing his name or having a description of the suspect, would hinder OUR search for him? Somebody from law enforcement needs to explain this better!
And then there is the matter of somebody on BT saying the *target* was back in his apartment, while the ERA reports:
"Vaughn, the victim in this case, was detained on a war- rant in Allegheny County for a probation violation, according to Learn. “Last I knew he was in McKean County Jail ... Allegheny County may have come to get him,” Lucco said.
Citizen, in no way did i impede your freedom of speech and you ought to quit using that as a crutch every time someone tells you that you are wrong, kind of weakens the meaning of the words when you throw them around Willy nilly. I made the suggestion that some may overreact and should use common sense rather than flying off the handle. Follow stony's lead.
Interesting response Jeff, I dont remember you telling me that i was wrong about anything pertaining to this topic, nor do i recall playing the freedom of speech card excessively. Are you referring to my recent debates with a certain poster pertaining to attempted censorship? I am in agreement with quite a few of your posts, but this one in my opinion seems vague and cryptic, almost like echoes from someone you may have spoken to about this.

Regardless, as long as officials keep mum, there will be people speculating and filling in the blanks. Someone named None-ya most recently forgot what a forum like this is all about- Free speech.
It seems to me that you are likening me to None-ya and saying that I'm impeding your free speech by saying that sometimes we should use caution with speculation because it can have unintended harmful consequences. I didn't read any of the debate on censorship because I have a very strong opinion about it, and disagreement usually leads to me cursing so I'm trying to stay away from that type of conversation. Free speech is absolute, no exceptions, self censorship by exercising caution is all that I'm talking about.
I apologize if I took that the wrong way, I was pretty tired when I typed that so it is very possible that you didn't intend it the way that I took it.
JeffT, I appreciate your efforts to keep the debate civil by arguing facts instead of just slinging personal insults.
In this case you were wrong about a few of your statements. One, the guy was not shooting into the air. And two, he was not a local, but rather a black Buffalo transient. And the paper never mentioned where he worked .... Zippo? Case? Dresser? Beacon Light? I'd be great to know, because now that he in on the lamb, there may be a job opening somewhere in Bradford!
We still have to resolve the issue of disclosing his identity.
Learn said and I quote from the ERA: McKean County District Attorney Ray Learn says: "Authorities are not yet releasing the identity of the Buffalo man due to the ongoing search for him".
And yet the same paper that printed that YESTERDAY, today prints: "Buffalo, N.Y., man Lawrence Fox is being sought by Bradford City Police for attempted murder for alleg-edly shooting at a Pittsburgh man in Bradford over the weekend.
Fox, 29 — also known as “Black,” “Black & Mild,” “Infamous Black,” “Big Homey from Cali,” “Dolla$$” and “Bali Bam” — is being sought on charges of attempted murder".
NOW how are we going to help find him if we know his name(S!) and have seen a photo of him?
WOW! It turns out the suspect happens to be African American! Didn't see that coming!
BTW-for those of you keeping track of the accuracy of BT, yesterday I called him hommie and that is one of his many aliases.
You know what Bradford really needs badly?
MORE subsidized housing that houses "people like this"!
"Build it and they will come"!
Can I get an amen?
Perhaps we can address this at the Landlord/Concerned Citizens meeting tonight ....
What can Bradford do to attract more people from the inner cities to Bradford?
Sounds like a nice ho-sum crowd he be hangin widt.
They are never going to find him now that they released his name, race and home(y) town.
It was really weird about a month ago when Emporium was looking for that white guy. They put his name in every paper and pictures and age and address and warned that no one should aid or conceal his where abouts. He is in custody now. That approach to finding someone of interest has worked for other departments. I wonder why it would not work here?

Police ask anyone with information about Lawrence Fox to call City of Bradford Police at 814-887-4911.
REST ASSURED THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH NARCOTICS!
It's simply an argument that went bad! An simple argument that led to attempted murder!
Stony (AKA white and wild) wrote; "now that he is on the lamb" Stony, i knew these guys like heavy white women, but they can find them in Buffalo. You solved it! They are coming down here for our farm animals!

That catchy PR slogan on the side of police cars has nothing to do with reality. There is no legal requirement for police to protect anyone. The slogan makes sheeple feel safe because they think someone is watching over them while God is sleeping. And the watchers actually see themselves as Gods.
Their job is to collect evidence "that can and will be used against you." That is what they do. And "serve" warrants.
There is no liability that requires police to protect cities, buildings, individuals, etc. The falicy that you are somehow protected by the quantity, quality or location of police is perpetuated by fancy little slogans that make you think they are your friend and looking out for you.
Bradford Era can really paint a story, but they are rarely accurate. If you can believe that this Fox was retreating for half a block before firing while he was trying to get to a vehicle, you have to take a broad view. The "story" says he drew a weapon at the appartment and was pursued while he was retreating to an exit vehicle. Now, who pursues someone that is holding you at gun point? If you are mean enough to chase someone holding a gun on you, you obviously are making that person believe you intend to do something to them that even the threat of deadly force is not going to prevent. So perhaps Fox felt life threatened and continued to obviously be threatened, because hey, if someone doesn't stop once confronted with gun muzzle, hint, hint, that is dangerous.
