I just found this on WESB (Thanks for reporting BTW!):

Bradford City Police are investigating an incident where gunshots were fired early this morning in the area of Bushnell Street and Chautauqua Place. They received the first reports of shots fired at about 4:45 a.m., and received several tips as to where they could find the person, or people, who fired the shots. During their search of 2 Bushnell Street they were not letting anyone in or out of the building. They have found the bullet casings and have closed off the area while they search for more evidence. We'll have more information as it becomes available.

JeffT, with your permission, can I say this was the work of a "gun nut" or at least a nut with a gun?

Who else would fire a gun off at 4:45AM within city limits and in close proximity to several homes, many with children in them?

It's getting worse people, just like we have been saying all along.

Gun SHOTS fired *for whatever reason*, at 4:45AM! Incredible!

Probably some luthier cleaning his gun, forgot it was loaded, and it went off a couple of times before he found the "Off" switch!

..... To shoot off in the middle of the city, at 4:40AM?

Thanks for making my point about gun nuts!

You people make laws worse for us responsible gun owners, sport shooters, and hunters!

Come on, Stony...I have more sense than that. I mean that we have guns to protect ourselves and be secure in our homes, since these gang members from Buffalo are now growing bolder in our community to the point of having turf wars!

You don't hear about it often on the AP wire, where most of our national news comes from, but in the NRA magazine, there's a monthly column called "The Armed Citizen". There you read stories from all over the country about thugs who break into people's homes--especially the elderly-- and don't reckon that they're armed. It makes me mad when I see these sheriff's reports about creeps who beat on old folks sleeping their beds-- until the oldsters retrieve their pistols from underneath!

The use of guns in self defense happens more often than one might think...or than the "mainstream" media reports.

(By the way, I heard the above info about the shooting incident from a local law enforcement officer this morning. So sad that such violence is here, even in our own little "Pocket of Peace" :( .)

Well I just heard from a resident of the "Hi-Rise" that one of the shooters is out of jail and back in his apartment. And this resident is extremely nervous about this. Just can't believe you allegedly shoot up the town one night and out of jail the next night! WTF is going on here?

Stoney, I think there is scant evidence of what exactly went on here. We have a guy from Pittsburgh and a guy from Buffalo involved here. You think they are gun nuts just shooting into the air for fun while downtown?

This could be bad deals gone bad or even someone protecting themselves. You are not a gun nut to protect yourself. You are a nut not to protect yourself. Nothing good could possibly be happening at 4:30 in the morning.

For those that think having more police sitting around the "closed" station is going to make you or Bradford safer, you really need to get a jack and pull your head out of there. It is not like BPD station is empty. Go stand in the lobby anytime. Let me know how empty it is. And it is not like having them on the street is going to make any difference. When I called the other day, after 30 minutes, no one came and the on going incident I described play by play ended and they rode off.

You protect you. Period. Quit living in dream land.

Stony, once again you're trying way to hard to read things into what I'm saying and trying to twist something I said into something else so that it fits your own agenda. I don't blame you, I blame the democrats that brainwashed you and taught you that it is okay and normal to do so.

My problem with the term "gun nuts" is that you liberals generally use it to describe anyone that believes that everyone (excluding felons and the legally insane) has a right to own a weapon, or anyone that owns weapons that aren't on your personally approved list. You're using the term "gun nuts" to try to lump every gun owner together. A nut with a gun is very accurate.

I've seen people calling this a drive-by or a gang related shooting, but there is no evidence to support that. It sounds to me like two reliefers at the high rise were drunk and arguing, one reliefer left and had a gun, and to show his other reliefer buddy how cool he was, he shot into the air.

no jefft they were not local reliefers. they were both out of town hoodlums. the argument was not over politics or sports. wake up it was a drug deal gone bad that turned into a violent gun attack. innocent bradford residents could have very easily been hit by the stray bullets. the city needs to get this under control.

I think the fact that one of them lived in the High Rise by definition makes him a local.

Innocent Bradford residents? Hardly, there were jackasses before and there are now. Drug deal gone bad? Who was shot? Pretty sure that the guy was firing into the air, never heard of a drug deal gone bad where someone was walking away firing into the air. Hey, maybe it was a cowboy that couldn't find his horse but was going to get him some Injun's. From now on every time I hear anything about a gun I'm going to label it as a cowboy and indian incident gone bad, before I know any facts. Makes sense right? Seeing as how you weren't there, aren't an officer that knows anything about the investigation, and already have it labeled as a drug deal gone bad and you're always right, correct? You and a couple other people on here get on here and spout off about how it was one way and nobody else is right and anyone that doesn't agree with you is an idiot, and then when you find out you were wrong you either completely ignore the post so you don't have to admit you were wrong, or you still insist that you were right and there is a conspiracy to cover the truth. Holy cow does this get exhausting.

Thank God that all of the local jet pack enthusiasts were still sleeping at this hour of the morning.
