Or scrap it and start from scratch. I found this article when i was searching for why we would want/encourage a welfare state. The only good reason i could come up with is that a larger hungrier welfare state would consume the middle class more efficiently. http://www.squidoo.com/end-welfare-what ... no-welfare

Welfare...paying people to fail. Then subsidizing those people to stay at their failed level.
For some reason, we NEED people on welfare in this country. Who benefits from having said amount on welfare? How many government jobs are created and payed for by us, the tax payers, for the sake of welfare? Then there's the free medical care the welfare people receive. How many people does that employ? And are insurance companies making out like bandits, over welfare medical coverage?
There will always be poor people. But this country loves the poor. We enable them, stagnate them, encourage them.

If folks still had to work to eat, there'd be a lot less "disabled" people around, too. Like welfare, it's easier to get on disability than to get a job. And the available jobs don't pay as much as the government dole!

I agree with you Shadow and Phantom. These" "AMOEBAS" are sucking the life out of the true middle class. Why do we have to support them? I'll bet if the goverment took there welfare and disabilty away, some of them would heal overnight.

And what about the ones who wouldn't "heal over night"?

Everyone i have ever spoken to who is in favor of Welfare reform has always qualified it with "except for those who actually need it". Right now as it exists, the sponges and fraudsters take benefits that should go to those in serious need.

But, they all say they need it. It has gotten so out of hand. I'm sorry, but when I was a kid, we did not see morbidly obese people in carts everywhere! These glutonous masses on wheels are clogging our grocery aisles, blocking our way, and causing a major shortage on sugary drinks and snacks. Too fat to work? No food stamps for you!
