Here's yet another story to give responsible gun owners a bad name!
From Solomon's Words:
Accidental Shooting Near Tracy Ridge
A West Chester man was accidentally shot by a Philadelphia man near Tracy Ridge Campground Saturday morning. Police say 24-year-old James Ferry shot a pistol that hit 24-year-old Bryan Lawler in the thighs. Ferry drove Lawler to Kane Community Hospital. Lawler was then taken to UPMC Hamot.
The two men were in a wooded area off Route 321 when the shooting happened at 1:40 a.m.
The state game commission and McKean County District Attorney’s office are assisting in the investigation.
-------------------------------------------------------- I'm wondering how accurate the title of the story is considering they are still investigating this shooting.
Note the time .... 1:40AM ..... gee, I wonder if alcohol could have been involved?
Or was it pure stupidity? Or just plain old gun-nutterie?
The "perfect" gun laws, would prevent stupid people from owning guns!
Stony wrote; "The "perfect" gun laws, would prevent stupid people from owning guns!" Not unless they gave an I.Q. test, and if that were the case a LOT of people i know couldnt own guns. They should also figure out a way to test for hipocrisy while they are testing I.Q.s, till then you are safe Stony!

Stony wrote; "BUT I did have a friend who could have easily shot ME in the thighs!" or slightly higher... I think to be a hypocrite you first have to advocate the opposite of what you do. (aka owning multiple guns while advocating gun control) Speaking of I.Q. tests, i once sold a worn out gun with no safety, to a friend with ADHD, putting myself potentially in those iffy sites. (I think the incident Stony is reffering to, was an episode where a gun was "accidentally" fired into the passenger area of a vehicle he had just vacated...)Which makes neither of us sound that smart, but make no mistake, there is only one hypocrite in this crowd...

What part of this story leads you to believe that they were gun nuts? Probably at least one of them is an idiot, but you liberals usually reserve the moniker "gun nut" for NRA members.
Actually upon rereading the article, it does raise a few questions and concerns. I have some relatives in the Westchester and Philly areas, these boys are far from Northwestern Pa material, usually this is not the region serious hunters or real woodsman come from. Besides, what is even in season right now? Additionally, the idea of running into a group of "Youts" with guns from Philly while exploring the corners of the ANF doesnt really appeal to me that much.(Maybe they were filming an episode of "Jersey Shore" and got lost!) Drinking? almost positively, as Stony said considering the time of morning, and must be the one kid wanted the other to bleed to death, taking him all the way to Kane instead of Bradford...(of course even though Bradford is closer, by the time they got to him he could have been empty.)

Dude! I can own guns, and believe in reasonable gun laws. And/or get upset when "other" gun owners do stupid things to make "us" look bad.
Me owning guns and complaining about other gun owners who violate the law or common gun safety proceidures..... is the SAME THING as you owning a pickup truck and complaining about somebody else speeding past your house in a pickup truck!
Using the logic you used to call me a hypocrite, IF you own a pickup truck you can't complain about how others use their pickup trucks!
I'm a liberal, a responsible gun owner, and a firm believer in enforcing existing gun laws and maybe even better, updated gun legislation. Nothing hypocritical there. Better, more responsible gun ownership protects our rights to bear arms! It's the wackos and incidents like this that endanger our gun rights.
Stony, just curious as to what kind of legislation would have prevented the Tracy ridge incident without encroaching on my gun rights (or my civil rights for that matter)? Checkpoints? metal detectors?

Let's cut Stony some slack here. After all, he did say that these two "nuts" (>snicker<) give responsible gun owners like you and me a bad name. I think he's just trying to liven things up on this web site; there's been a dearth of humor on here lately!
