I would hate to create any more work for our great Main street manager Colette Roessler, but as i watch "Our town Ridgway" i see that Ridgway's main street manager pulls a wagon with gallon jugs full of water, and waters their hanging baskets. I also see that Ridgway's fire department is all volunteer, and has been through their entire history, since 1824. They do have a smaller population than Bradford, but they also have some pretty tall buildings on Main street. (I didnt see many scummers either...)

The reason Bradford has so many scummers is because it has the welfare office and an overabundance of public housing. If the mud huts weren't here, the scummers wouldn't be here. If you build it, they will come.

cornfunkel you forgot the landlords that rent to the wellies. if the town just cracked down on the landlords that rent to the wellies we would have a much cleaner town. maybe some of the real lowlifes would move out of town. code enforcement can take care of a lot of our problems. and if the public housing kicked the real low lifes out it would help. we need to get rid of some of the real low life wellies. we shouldn't be providing them with housing and pampering their lazy butts! to some of us it looks like out town is trying to create a town full of wellies. other towns discourage them. bradford welcomes them. the police code enforcement the health department and the mayor needs to step up and put an end to the welfare welcome wagon that facilitates the low lifes. and lets not forget about the oecds contribution to the welfare welcome wagon that is bradford. there are normal people in town who can use some help. but instead we are helping worthless wellies prosper and breed more blight and dependent offspring. build it and they will come but the flip side to that is if we discourage them they will leave. what has our mayor and city council done to discourage welfare collectors from locating here? they just want to bring more in.

"welfare welcome wagon" Thats absolutely priceless! So i guess the 43% (i still cant believe its gone up that much in 4 years) tax increase is to make the rest of us feel welcome, or to help defer the costs of sending police and fire out to the townships?

None Ya, Although im not exactly sure who you are, I now know who you arent. I originally had you pegged as someone elses puppet on a string, and i now believe your motives are your own, and i think i know why. I was misled initially as to your identity. I also dont throw apologys around like bird seed, but i have to apologise to whom i originally thought you were. All i can say is we obviously are looking at this from opposite ends of the spectrum. No, i dont want the Main street manager to carry a ladder. But i do want City Hall to start acting fiscally like a business and not a drunken sailor on shore leave. When i complain about the state of Bradford, i now realize that some posters here on BT are insulated from the things i see on a daily basis. Yes, they may encounter these dregs in the course of a work day, but they dont have to live in the middle of them when they go home at night. Believe me None ya, this will have you singing along with my choir in no time, especially when nothing around you improves for years, even decades, just gets worse. I have no city connections or particular alligence or dependence on city coffers, this might sway some peoples view. I will concede that we both probably want the same thing at the end of the day.

Of course Citizen and Landlord, we SHOULD all be on the same page.
What noneya and others in the past who have posted on BT just to "complain" about us doesn't get, is that to make our fair city better, we have to identify, acknowledge and then work together to fix or address the problems. Ignoring problems never works out!
A perfect example, is the code enforcement issues.
The previous CE team slacked off for many years before we focused attention on what they were doing and not doing. Things changed because of public "complaining".
All noneya and others are doing is complaining about the complainers! Accomplishing NOTHING! Just an anonymous typer hiding behind a keyboard and the internet. Complaining that there are people in town expressing their opinions, and shedding light on matters that concern the public.
"Complaining" about complaining, plain and simple.
As much as has already appeared on BT, there are still many public matters that needs to be made public.
Although many public officials pay lip service to "transparency" and openness, WAY too much happens behind the scenes.
Noneya has not made one single positive contribution to the conversation, she just rags on and on about what she considers others complaining.
Citizens original post on this thread was obviously tongue in cheek, but it did point out that "other towns" can water their hanging baskets without the support of fancy equipment mounted on four wheelers.
I sound like a broken record, but the single most serious problem on main street is not a lack of flowers, but rather an overabundance of scummers bothering "regular people" and being vulgar. And/or the drug problem that goes un acknowledged and un addressed!
I'd really love to hear what noneya is doing to make Bradford a better place?
