I see the townships are getting the creek flood channel cleaned out, I hope the city has plans to clean out their gravel bars. There has to be hundreds of tons in the East branch alone. (and thats just between 5th ward park and the Elm street bridge.) The channel is almost choked off, the next good flood will take out the dike walls.

Ya know Me and the Better Half were just talking about this. Ya think they would do this while the water is so very low. It would just be much easier we think. But who are we??? Just plain ole working people who don't know nothing.

You people just don't understand how funding and grant writing works!

We can't just write grants for major infrastructure maintenance, or preventative safety improvements.

We HAVE to write grants for stupid stuff like Chinese Pagoda bridges wedged between two other bridges.

And lord knows we don't have any Chinese Pagoda bridges in Bradford anyhow. And THAT's unfair to our bridge loving Chinese population.

Down at the OECD they must have some kind of guidebook that requires we satisfy the needs of Chinese bridge buffs before the safety of the other citizens of the city.

However, by building the *third of a million dollar bridge* between the other two functioning bridges first, before they clean the flood control plain, they are foolishly risking all three bridges being washed out in the next flood!

And THEN us taxpayers will be on the hook for cleaning out the flood control, and then re-building three bridges. Two functioning "regular bridges" and one stupid looking one!

Can the local jurisdictions clean out the flood control areas? Thought it would have to be state level.

The local jurisdictions have always cleaned the creek, they just have to submit the proper paperwork. I can vaguely remember the city cleaning out the aforementioned section of the East branch about ten years ago. If i remember correctly Bradford township cleaned their section out up to the city limits when Al Pingie was still supervisor. Anyone remember when that was?
