because I'm a cop???
Yes- another mother and I were told this yesterday morning when a "cop" driving his own personal vehicle, rolled through a stop sign and as the other mother told him he had to stop, turned around and came back to tell us it was alright, he's a cop and it's a legal turn....
I was under the impression that if a school bus stop sign is out all traffic must halt, unless there is a divider between the lanes (jersey barrier, etc)... What the heck is wrong with people. And if this guy is really a cop- when did they become above the law?

First of all let me state that my following comments are NOT directed at the Bradford Police Department, or any other police department in this area for that matter. All the Bradford police I have met who are currently working or have worked for the department seem like really great guys (and gals!). And given the circumstances in Bradford, they all must have a very stressful, and demoralizing job to do! I would not want to be a Bradford Police officer. I have great respect for those who are.
Having said that, may I remind you that just because somebody says they are a police officer, doesn't mean they ARE a police officer.
Very often, idiots IMPERSONATE police officers!
And on occasion, sometimes police officers impersonate IDIOTS!

When they put on the badge?
The badge is only a piece of metal, it is worth about a penny at the scrap yard, it is the man that wears that badge that gives it any value.
...or detracts from it. I have LEOs in the family and always treat any LEO with respect until they don't deserve it. The most commonly seen statement on a police car is "To Protect and Serve". Some officers forget this.

Just like I said........"I would not want to be a Bradford Police officer. I have great respect for those who are. Having said that, may I remind you that just because somebody says they are a police officer, doesn't mean they ARE a police officer".

Glad to hear he was turned in. Hope there are consequences for his action so others get the message. Passing a stopped school bus with the sign out is illegal in every state I know of. He put kids at risk even if he was "pretty sure" they weren't going to cross the road in front of the bus. A few seconds of his time aren't that valuable.

I never thought that he was, just irritated that he'd actually turn around to say that he was (I guess in hopes that he wouldn't be turned in)...
