I was afforded the opportunity at 9:30pm last evening to take a drive down Main Street Bradford. This is what I witnessed: 2 separate lovely couples walking the drag, an older gentleman riding a bicycle, a few people standing outside a local restaurant (smoking) and this was all at the West End of Main Street. At the East End, several STROLLERS in the area of tops out at 9:30 at night. I had 2 of my grandchildren for an overnight, past stroller age, sleeping soundly back home in their beds. There was some yelling around the same area. I do admit, I do not frequent Main Street, but I did stop the other day and bought a cheese steak from the street vendor. His cart was the busiest place on Main Street and their was good conversation amongst the patrons.

Te reliefers don't know about bed time for babies and toddlers. They have them out all hours of the night. I guess when you don't work, time is of little importance.

When you live in the thick of them you cant escape the little bastards, they are up all hours. Keep your windows closed, and forget about enjoying your yard or garden.

I had some computers to fix today at a client of mine who has his place of business in Bradford. I left working there around 12:30. I drove into downtown, then I remembered I left my body armor and tazer back home so I turned around and left (kidding). I drove down Main St. and made note of who was standing in the entry way's of the buildings. I did see one person doing that but I did not see a baby buggy or any tats, so I am sure that was not to bad. I parked my car and got out, went into a store, when I left there was a lady there with a baby buggy smoking. I finished driving through town and went to Togi's for lunch. Maybe the rain today kept everyone home who knows. I think I might make a night time trip down there, bring my flip cam and take a nice slow stroll up and down Main St.

I drove down main street late yesterday afternoon, as I do every day to go home and was again shocked to see so many people jaywalking everywhere. They would cross the street where there were no crosswalks and cross main street against traffic lights. This is dangerous to the pedestrians and drivers alike. If a driver has to slam on his or her brakes to stop for one of these idiots their car could very well get rear ended by the next driver.

These people that are crossing the street illegally aren't just scummers and bums, but everyday hard working people that are just ignorant to safety and the law. I mentioned to one couple that they were not supposed to cross against the traffic light, just to be screamed and cussed at because just up the street there were signs to stop for pedestrians in a crosswalk. They didn't understand they have to wait at an intersection with a traffic light. (What a mouth she had)

On August 11, 2012 there was an article in the Era by Officer Greg Boser about safely crossing streets. How many read this article?? Evidently not many. Definitely not the scummers. Even is they had the paper in the hands, they couldn't read it.

My point is safety issues like this have to handled by the police face to face, not by some camera up in the sky. People dont't have to be issued tickets, just given a friendly reminder, that what they are doing is wrong and someone might hurt.

I have chosen to avoid main street and all of the stores and businesses there and start going to Foster Brook area for my needs.

Here is the big point that anyone who has an interest in Main street should be noting; "I have chosen to avoid main street and all of the stores and businesses there and start going to Foster Brook area for my needs."

Really why would you need to stop at anywhere on Main Street (except for the red lights). If you think about it almost everything you can get on Main Street you can get elsewhere in Bradford or online. You shopping only in Foster Brook does not change things. About the only thing is a restaurant or two or a tat shop that does not get your business.

I actually fully support legitimate merchants and small businesses on main street, always have. Another old saying that comes to mind is; Never assume... You know the rest!
