"Causer asks DEP for a solution for gravel bar issues" reads the headline. So the DEP is playing god with municipalities regarding the cleaning of creeks (as well as water and sewer issues) Why am I not surprised. Emporium has a railroad bridge that may be washed out from the redirected waters, and they still wont let the borough clean it out. Massive gravel bars build up, then when a permit is requested the DEP cites too much of an area requested, or too much vegetation (which grows on said bars.) Bullshit! The same DEP run by pawn of the gas industry Michael Krancer, who wont grant clean water to Dimok Pa residents, and lets the industry run rampant over the environment? Bradfords Tununguwant east branch is so choked with gravel bars that the channel is half its normal witdth and in danger of eroding the flood control dykes. Lets throw the bums out!

This is only slightly related to this topic, but my wife, I and our two dogs were enjoying the warm temperatures and walking along the East branch of the Tuna last evening, when we came to the spillway area. It was pretty high and turbulent. while approaching we noticed several dogs on the other side who looked curious to come over and meet our dogs. Two attempted the crossing on the flat portion of the falls. at that moment one disappeared and we noticed a man trailing the dogs from the other bank. The smaller of the two dogs had been swept over, and was caught in the undertow or whatever you would call it. The dog was struggling to keep his head above the turbulent water for what seemed like hours. His owner tried to cross and entice the dog up the ramp to him, but that wasnt happening, I finally implored the guy to go into the tidepool to get the dog, but I was ready to go in if need be. The owner waded in over his waist and finally got the exhausted dogs collar. It was very close.
