Can any of you "youngsters" or computer experts out there recommend a good deal on a laptop? (definitely under 500.00) hopefully less than that. Something basic, durable and user friendly (for 50 somethings) without a lot of bells and whistles? Thanks in advance.

The guys at the fire department know where to get one for under six thousand dollars! Didn't they get laptops for five THOUSAND dollars? I guess us overtaxed taxpayers don't mind spending that kind of money for a good cause! Go figger!

I heard OECD bought them (for $5000.00! ) so George and merle could keep a record of their citations written, inspections and a daily log, and they never ended up using them! I really wonder why the city is broke?

If I were to pay $5,000 for a computer ...... every naked girl I look at on the internet would have to step out of the screen and become real! LOL!
I'm pretty sure that technology is still pretty far off!

I bought my acer aspire for 299, and i think they are 249 now. of course mine has had 3 operating systems since new... and now its iff at best... but it was pretty nice when i bought it haha.
$5,000??? I didn't even realize such an expensive computer existed... my few hundred dollar pentium 4 with a $150 video card can handle autodesk inventor, autocad, microstation, and microsoft flight simulator X just fine.... What exactly are the firemen doing? crunching numbers for the NSA?!?
