Here are some random photo I took while hunting this fall/winter.

Some are from the start of "small game" season, and some are from the recent turkey/deer season.

In previous years I just "hunted" with my camera. This year I use both the camera and guns.

On my way to my hunting spot at the start of small game season. I was hunting grouse.

One of my favorite points in the Marilla area

Image
One of the few apple producing trees I've seen this year- Schoolhouse Run in the Sugar Bay area

Image
Sugar Run downstream from the old Mallory camp. With my 12 gage with scope

Image
Sitting on a rock with my stuff in front of me .... backpack, knife, hiking stick, and shotgun

Image
An old 16 gage single shot shotgun ..... still hunting grouse

Image
A blind in Schoolhouse Run somebody built a very long time ago. It had a wicker chair in it!

Image
Turkey hunting above High Street in Bradford, hunting with my "deadly accurate" 22 with scope

Image
Junk in the woods from a long time ago

Image
Made a great place to hang my gun!

Image
Around dusk there was a very eerie orange tint on everything

Image
There was a great sunset that night. For safety reasons, I waited until after dark to hike out of the woods, so I could use a headlamp and flashlight so I wouldn't be mistaken for an animal!

Image
The colors were fantastic

Image
"A red sky at night ...."

Image
On my way to my deer spot Saturday, just enough snow cover

Image
Small cave in a hidden rock area

Image
There were more coyote tracks than deer near these rocks

Image
My deer rifle .... an 1891 Argentine Mauser- Full military including the sling and the open sights

Great pix! I was hoping to see something on the grill or a spit. But you certainly didn't go home empty-handed.

The part of hunting I don't mind sharing with people is the beauty of the woods ..... the quality of time spent outdoors.

I eat what I hunt, and killing the animals is the sad part about harvesting you own food. I'd rather play that part down, than "brag" about it like some sport hunters feel the necessity to do.

I hunt for food, not fame or glory! I don't have to prove anything to anybody or try to impress anyone.

I use my guns as tools to acquire food, not as an extension of my penis!

For me it's more about "look how wonderful the woods are" than "Hey! Look what I can do".

And for some of us it's a great excuse to walk through the woods!

And BTW, my freezer is full.

I hunted a few times right after I was eligible to get my licence, and I got deer (very tasty). But I agree with stony. I never hunted them for the rack, just for the meat, and I won't hunt again unless I need the food and can't afford to buy it, or the food in the supermarkets becomes so polluted with chemicals I won't eat it. But boy do I love target shooting and plinking!
