I didn't want to keep infringing on Stony finding his dog a new home topic, so I'm moving the mother cat w/kittens to a new topic.

She had 6 kittens, and this morning, the weak one died, leaving the surviving number at 2. I buried it in my back yard b/c I couldn't bring myself to throw the poor little thing in the trash, after it fought to survive for over 24 hours. So now she is left with the 2 little gray tigers, and they are doing well. I named the mother Swee'pea, and she really is a sweetheart. From what I was told by a few neighbors, she survived a cold harsh winter outside, existing on garbage, and being chased off by just about everyone. She came to my attention by looking in our window a few weeks ago. My husband wanted me to go outside and chase her away, as our 3 cats inside were howling and going nuts. I did go outside, but only to coax her over to me. It took a total of 5 minutes before she was in my arms, purring and rubbing her head against my chin. This cat was starving. I started feeding her outside, daily, and then noticed she was gaining alot of weight in her belly. (up until then I thought she was a HE) Anyway, now she is safe and warm, along with the tiger "Twins". It just amazes me how an animal that's been abandoned and chased off for so long can become so affectionate after only one kind act. I'm thinking I should have named her "GRACE".

Don't feel too bad, sadly, it's nature. She's probably actually a young cat and this is more than likely her first litter. 2 out of 6 is actually a really good number for a stray young cat. It's pretty hard to have that happen, but it does happen a lot. I'm really happy you have the 2 surviving kittens though.

Just what Bradford needs; more cats.

Yes BJM, more cats! But these cats will be neutered, spayed, vaccinated, and cared for. I could not take her to the SPCA to have these kittens. (as was suggested by my veterinarian when he examined her and told me she was close to having her kittens. The SPCA is at full capacity, with dogs and cats)

While I agree with BJM that Bradford don't need more cats, or even stray cats, I'd point out that Shadow isn't responsible for these three cats or multiplying the cat population in town.

Shadow is doing the responsible, compassionate thing here.

Way to go, Shadow! Kudos to you! Too many folks just look the other way when it comes to strays! The world needs more compassion and less complainin'!!

You have a kind and compassionate heart shadow to take in a stray and care for her and her kittens. Sounds like sweet pea will be living the good life now :)

Thanks everybody! I have already found a future home for the 2 offspring (one is another poster!), and I will be keeping the mother. She has found a huge place in my heart. I know I'm putting human emotions on an animal, but it's really cool how she loves showing off her young to ppl. It's like she's so proud of them.
When all the world is a financial, polluted, corrupt, cruel mess, I can forget about it all for a few minutes when I visit them.

Take the photos with a digital camera. Upload them to the internet. Provide us with a link to the photos or use an active link to them.
Put them in a post with the html code with their address.
