Ok. Let's look at some examples then. Like I posted above let's say the board has been around for 7 years. Now I think we can all agree that talking 7 years on some of these topics would have everyone informed pretty good. So let's name 2 topics that has been talked about for 7+ years on Bradford PA based message boards and from what I can see from some of the recent posts, things either have not changed or got worse. I am basing this on the posts I have seen recently on this forum.

1. What is labeled by some people on this forum as "scummer". So this has been a hot topic since the beginning. Welfare, access cards, more recently tats, baby strollers, swearing in public and anything else I forgot to mention. Now from the most recent posts it seems like the situation has got worse, not better. Let me remind you this topic has been discussed, debated, posted and seen by many of Bradford's finest for 7 years. I am sure people have seen the information posted and have had plenty of time to forum their own opinion on the subject at hand. So with all the debate and information posted on this forum, the problem is now worse according to posts by BT forum members. According to the posts some of these people walk or ride their bikes around Bradford almost every night and they see it getting worse. So with the hundreds or maybe even thousands of people seeing this information, talking about the information, exchanging ideas, forming opinions there is no solution? I say with 7 years of debate and maybe thousands of people seeing the information there should be some answer, if not I think it is time to hang it up on that topic.

2. Same for this topic, which would be CE. Before the head of CE was changed this was a hot topic of debate for about as long as the first topic. What was done? Nothing. A lot of you once again posted information, exchanged ideas, formed opinions and posted those for the whole city and town of Bradford to see 24/7 for 7 years. Before the new CE person took charge how far did that get you? From what I can recall nothing was done till new employees took charge of CE. And if I remember correctly the posts on BT did not get the new CE person hired.

So there are 2 topics of many that have been debated, plenty of time for the public to be informed (7 years), plenty of time for opinions to be posted and those debated on still no resolution? I do find it kind of ironic that here are maybe hundreds of even thousands of minds reading and processing all this information being posted on a forum and still the situations are the same or worse. So far that has taken 7 years, but you expect an elected official to fix things in 4 years and he is one person.

The old CE department was purged of the offenders and their boss, and a new crew is in place and doing a much better job. Thats why you arent still reading about it. BT was instrumental in getting that changed along with a couple of posters on this site and the mayor. (credit where credit is due...)

This site has a very large effect on what goes on in Bradford.

But people who make decisions behind the scenes aren't going to announce that they got their ideas from an internet site!

Nor will somebody stand up at a city council meeting and announce that what they propose came from Bradford Today. It just don't work that way.

And don't you think that *some people* might do the right thing because they are worried that if they didn't it might show up on the internet?

This site may just be a deterrent for some people and some bad ideas!

I'll post a great example of what I'm talking about a bit later.

And what is your alternative? "Sit down and shut up"? That ain't gonna happen.

We can meet up in person some time and I'll innumerate for you all the things that this site has changed in Bradford.

I've been told in some private conversations that a few people were pushed out of here or banned by the last admin because they didn't go along with viewpoints of the liberals here. Isn't that the biggest and worst type of censorship there is?

I have a feeling that your private conversations were with just one person on different days and that the *few people* that were pushed out or banned were also the same person's several usernames he attempted to sneak back in with to troll the board.

You were one of the one's that were mentioned, Phillygirl was mentioned. I see many of those named posting here, but most aren't.

Even though that may or may not be the case, the forums aren't only meant to be a line of communication from average citizens to government officials in order to effect change, it's also meant for them to communicate with each other about these issues and help others learn more about those issues. Effecting change or not, communication with each other about the topics is one of the the purposes of the forum. So again, the forums are serving their purpose.

Anyone who posts here most likely would like to influence members and readers to consider their point of view. We all have opinions. When we share those opinions, it is not with wanton disregard or spite, but rather with the hope that others might at least come to understand those opinions, if not embrace them. Otherwise what’s the point in sharing them. We go about that in different ways—obviously.

We have regular posters from all walks of life and all political persuasions. Some are in-city, some out of town, or even living in another county or State. All still seem to give an honest shit about Bradford.

I reviewed the posts and the reasons for suspension was clear violations of rules, it had nothing to do with anyone's political views.

More proof that it wasn't because of his political views is the fact that there where and still is differing political views on the site. There is no shortage of Republican or Democratic views.

For example on "that other forum", they wouldn't let us mention how crappy our hospital is/was, or talk about that creepy "Saturday Sam" guy! THAT was censorship!

I believe the moderators here got it right!

Ok, I dropped in here to see why my forum screen seems to be cut in half to find this vigorous discussion!

Don't know what precipitated this, but I see a conflict in your response. Isn't "Saturday Sam" a private individual?

Okay, so now I AM missing something. What am I supposed to be "named" about? (Although I'm proud to be on any list that includes Bernie!) If I had some kind of power or influence here, it's news to me! (Even tho I have been nominated for Mayor of Bradford three times on the other board that shall not be named.)
