Pitt-Bradford to offer Operational Excellence for powder metal industry
ST. MARYS, Pa. — The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford will offer a new variation of its popular Operational Excellence classes this month for those in the powder metal industry.
Both classes will be offered from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the Community Education Council in St. Marys. Each session is $40 per participant.
The first class, Introduction to Operational Excellence, will be offered May 11. The second class, Lessons in Synchronous Flow for Operations, will take place May 18.
Operational Excellence is a philosophy of organizational leadership that stresses continuous improvement, teamwork and problem solving throughout the organization by focusing on the needs of the customer, empowering employees and focusing management attention toward sustainable improvement of organizational performance.
In the first session, participants will investigate the conflicts that traditional metrics create within organizations and will introduce the metrics necessary to change the behaviors necessary to achieve breakthrough results.
The second session will introduce the concept of synchronous flow and will evaluate different methods for managing operations.
