VOCALOSITY CONCERT AT PITT-BRADFORD WILL SHOW OFF THE ART OF A CAPELLA

BRADFORD, Pa. — VOCALOSITY, an all-new live concert event from the creator of “Pitch Perfect” and “The Sing-Off,” will come to the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford. Feb. 5.

The fast-paced production features 12 dynamic voices singing some of today’s chart-topping hits in brand-new arrangements. Tickets for the 7:30 p.m. show in Bromeley Family Theater are $16 to $20 for the public and $5 for all students and can be purchased in advance at the theater box office in Blaisdell Hall.

VOCALOSITY will go beyond today’s top pop music, however, to explore 10th century Gregorian chant and classic chorale, barbershop quartet and doo-wop, The Beatles and Bruno Mars.

Choreographer Sean Curran is also the director and began his career with traditional Irish step dancing as a boy in Boston. He was a performer in the original New York City cast of STOMP and now tours internationally with his own troupe, the Sean Curran Company.

Creator, music director, arranger and artistic producer Deke Sharon is responsible for the current sound of modern a cappella. He produces the unscripted television show “The Sing-Off” worldwide. He also served as the arranger, on-site music director and vocal producer for “Pitch Perfect” and “Pitch Perfect 2,” Universal’s a cappella movies with a growing cult following.
His latest project is a new reality TV show called “Pitch Slapped” on Lifetime.
Cast members have performed around the world, including at the Apollo Theater in Harlem, Carnegie Hall, and Avery Fisher Hall. Their experience includes musicals, beat boxing, rock ‘n’ roll and more.

Prior to VOCALOSITY taking the stage, Pitt-Bradford’s student a cappella group, Basic Pitches, will perform “Cry Me a River” by Justin Timberlake.
“This performance is bigger and more involved than anything we’ve done so far,” said Shayne Kraynyk, a sophomore business management student from Pittsburgh and music director for the group.

“It’s only our second year as a group on campus, so being able to open for a professional group for the whole community to come and enjoy will be a spectacular experience.”
