Bradford, PA – Truck traffic traveling in village of Rew, McKean County, will be reminded to obey the posted speed limit as they travel on Route 46. PennDOT recently placed a radar-controlled speed display sign north of Route 646 and Route 46 intersection to aid in curbing speeding, common type of aggressive driving.

The sign faces northbound traffic and displays the 25-mile-per-hour speed limit for trucks of more than 21,000 pounds gross weight traveling on Route 46. The speed display sign uses radar to determine the speeds of oncoming traffic. Vehicle speeds are then posted on the lighted section of the sign. The speed limit for vehicles under 21,000 pounds gross weight in this area is 55 miles per hour.

The speed display sign will remain on location for up to four weeks.

Speeding and other aggressive driving behaviors are among the leading causes of crashes and fatalities in Pennsylvania. Other aggressive driving behaviors include running stop signs or red lights, passing illegally and tailgating.

Aggressive driving behaviors were listed as a crash cause in more than 48 percent of McKean County crashes in 2014.
