Phyllis L. Stanko, 78, of 24 N. Elk Avenue, passed away Tuesday (May 12, 2015) at Kane Community Hospital.
Born February 19, 1937, in Port Allegany, she was a daughter of the late Leon and Vivian Baker Davis. On May 7, 1960, in Sheffield, she married Stephen Stanko who survives.
Phyllis, a devoted wife and mother, had worked at Stackpole for twenty years. She was a member of St. Callistus Catholic Church.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are a daughter, Diane (Gerard Smith) Stanko of Allison Park; a grandson, Benjamin Smith of Allison Park; two granddaughters, Kara Debevec of Sagertown and Krysta Stanko of Richmond, VA; a sister, Janice Brawand of Altoona; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death, besides her parents, by a daughter, Laurie Ann Stanko and a son Stephen “Joe” Stanko.
Friends will be received in the gathering space at St. Callistus Church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at which time a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Philip Pinczewski, pastor. Burial will be in St. Callistus Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Joe Stanko Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Hamlin Bank, Kane, PA 16735.
