John Hulings
John “Tyke” Hulings, 77, of 126 West Virginia Ave, James City, died Friday afternoon, in James City at the home of his daughter. He was born on Nov. 10, 1936 in James City, the son of the late George and Evelyn Confer Hulings. On April 14, 1956 he married Donna Edinger, who preceded him in death.
Mr. Hulings was a member of the Kane Senior Center and also the Northwestern PA Polka Boosters. He attained the rank of Sergeant while serving in the National Guards.
John had worked in the woods for many years and he had also been employed as a Supervisor for Stackpole, from where he retired.
Surviving relatives include, six daughters; Dawn (Ed) Vantassel of James City, Mary Jo (Larry) Lamping of Kane, Cherry (Carl) Englert of Kane, Sue (Leo) Niklas of Saylorsburg, Jodi (Jim) Weidenhoff of James City, and Jamie (Garren) Maze of James City. Six sons; John A. (Grace) Hulings of Ridgway, Louis Hulings of NJ, Robert (Julie) Hulings, of Chesapeake, VA, Samuel (and his companion Charmaine) Hulings of Ridgway, Glen (Cindy) Hulings of James City and Kris (Cheryl) Hulings of Kane; 41 Grandchildren; 32 Great-grandchildren; one sister, Anna Bailey of NY; three brothers, Walter Hulings of Phoenix, AZ, Donald Hulings of James City, PA and Raymond Hulings of Pittsburgh, PA; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by two grandsons, John Hulings II and Randy Hulings; two sisters, Twila Hulings and Lula Johnson and two brothers, George Hulings Jr. and Butchy Hulings.
Friends may call on Tuesday (Sept 30) at the Cummings Funeral Home in Kane from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday (Oct. 1) at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. W. Craig Smith, officiating. Burial will take place in Highland Cemetery.
