Clarence W. “Duke” Eckert, 89, of 104 Forest Avenue, passed away Monday (September 1, 2014) at Sena Kean Manor.
Born October 16, 1924, in Elk County, he was a son of the late Anthony and Julia Brendel Eckert. On May 26, 1950, in Kane, he married Rose Trumbull who survives.
“Duke” served with the U.S. Air Corps during World War II.
He was a Millwright and had worked at various times for HBSA Industries in Brooklyn, NY, the McKean County Redevelopment and Housing Authority, Affiliated Industries in Kane, J.R. Kilmer Wholesale Groceries and St. Marys Sewer Pipe Company in St. Marys.
He was a member of St. Callistus Catholic Church; a lifetime member of the LOOM #307 where he had a Fellowship Degree and was a Pilgrim of Merit . He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post #250, the FOE Aerie #307 and the Kane Vol. Fire Dept. He also belonged to the Mt. Jewett Veterans Memorial Club and the Wilcox Sportsman Club.
Friends will be received in the gathering space at St. Callistus Church on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial, with the Rev. Philip Pinczewski as celebrant, will follow at 2:00 p.m.
Burial will be at St. Marys Cemetery.
The Cummings Funeral Home, Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
