Alice K. Coleman, 92, formerly of 508 Hacker Street, passed away Monday (August 11, 2014) at the Lutheran Home at Kane.
Born December 31, 1921, in Maple Heights, OH, she was a daughter of the late Irvin and Flora Jeffords Keyser. On July 31, 1954, she married Martin R. Coleman who preceded her in death.
Alice was a member of the First United Methodist Church, and was a lifelong member of both the Phoenix Chapter #15 Order of the Eastern Star in Smethport and the White Shrine of Jerusalem.
She had been employed at various times by Holgate Toy Co., Constable Furniture Stores and the Suzanne Shoppe, all in Kane. She was a very talented person who enjoyed cooking, reading, counted cross-stitch and sewing.
Surviving are a son, Dan (Mary Ann) Coleman of Morristown, TN; a grandson, Sean (Jennifer) Coleman; four great grandchildren; two sisters, Marion K. Larson and Kay Keyser, both of Kane; a brother-in-law, Charles N. Cox of Warren; a stepson, Richard K. (Libby) Coleman of Kane; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death, besides her husband and parents, by a brother, Irvin “Art” A. Keyser Jr.; five sisters, Nellie Knight, Ethel Brown, Betty K. Anderson, Margaret Germock and Barbara K. Cox; five brothers-in-law; one sister-in-law; one niece and one nephew.
Friends will be received Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Cummings Funeral Home, Inc. where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. William R. LaVelle Jr., pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Lutheran Home at Kane, 100 High Point Drive, Kane, PA 16735 or the McKean County SPCA, Box 113, Bradford, PA 16701.
